why fish?

I love the ocean. I think the beauty and diversity of the sea is unmatched anywhere else on earth. When I was very young, I was fascinated with fish. Unlike most animals, they are almost completely different from us. They breathe under water. They don't have legs or arms. They usually don't lie down. In college, I took a few introductory courses in Marine Biology, Oceanography and Fish Biology that really developed this love and helped me learn more. This is my way of keeping the learning going.

what got me into this

Fishing. Yep, I love fish in almost every way imaginable. Especially Minnesota Walleye... lightly breaded and buttered and served a couple hours after being pulled from the water. I had family in the great Boundary Waters Canoe Area of Northern Minnesota, and as a kid we'd go there for a month at a time almost every year.

The second culprit was the Seattle Aquarium. We went there so many times, I don't even remember... but what I do remember is the dome room... an incredible experience for a little kid.

Dentist offices and pet stores. Yep... those too. I remember loving clownfish the most when I was little. So when Finding Nemo came out in 2003, I thought for sure they made it for me.

about me

I am a devoted Christian; I believe that God, in his infinite imagination, created this incredible biodiversity we see. It makes the most sense to me!

I am a single woman who's still figuring out what to do with life, but determined to enjoy the present anyway.

I have many interests! Besides the sea, I love animals (mostly moose, horses, dogs, parakeets and buffalo - for a random sampling), modern and military history, old time radio, old classic movies, sports such as biking and archery, taking pictures, traveling, visiting with friends and laughing.
